$3 million for the Women's Funding Network

[From Philanthropy News Digest] The San Francisco-based Women's Funding Network has announced a $3 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to expand its Investment, Influence, and Impact initiative.

Through the initiative, WFN works in partnership with women's funds across the United States to dismantle poverty's hold on generations of women and children. The grant from Kellogg will be used to broaden the program, with emphasis on the shared human security framework that women's funds use to address challenges faced by single mothers and vulnerable children, including poverty, insufficient health care, inadequate education, environmental degradation, and violence. The grant also will be used to boost the capacity of women-led organizations and help women's funds, especially those employed in regions hardest hit by the recession, including Mississippi, Michigan, and New Mexico, share information.
